Tired... or chill out?

After his follow-up visit with Dr Heng, Pierre got onto his throne, and got comfy.

By photo-op time, he's been snoozing in the same spot for at least 5 hours.

He seemed happy to just chill, oblivious to the commotion around him, and that he is due for another follow-up in 2 weeks' time. His eye drop has also been changed, as the previous one did not seem to  be working for his right eye.

Here's a closer look at Pierre's face and eyes. It is very clear, the difference in the condition between his left and right eye.

Vet Visit on 20 March 2010

Above receipt for 2nd visit to Dr Heng. His condition did not imporve. He was given a new eyedrop and we will need to bring him for one more visit in 2 weeks time.

Scans of Dr Heng's diagnosis and explanation of Pierre's condition

Pierre is too much for the carrier

Sometime during the trip to and from the vet, the carrier's top began to crack. It is also 1 or 3 sizes too small for Pierre. Will need to source for a new, larger, and more sturdy carrier for him since he will require frequent follow-up visits to the vet.

Pierre will need long term care

Pierre has seen Dr Heng of Mount Pleasant Sunset Way earlier today.

The diagnosis on his eye is no good. The eye drop he is using now has to be stopped. Dr Heng has given a different one.

She says that he looked well except for his eyes and that he probably was injured because of the deteriorating sight in the right eye, causing him to react slower than he would have, resulting in his accident.

So what is his problem? There is an ulcer in his right eye, it would have been growing for a while already. Dr Heng says the reason for is probably genetic, which means his eyes will fail progressively until he can no longer see.

Pierre has been given a collar so that he doesn't rupture his eye due to trying to scratch it from the irritation he feels in it. If the condition worsens or his ulcer ruptures, he may need to have his right eye removed. While his left eye seems ok for now, it is also slightly cloudy and over the long term, he may lose sight in both eyes.

He needs to visit her next weekend for a follow-up. Meantime, he will require 4 to 6 drops of 2 eye medicine to be administered every day, half an hour apart each time. He also need to be fed half a pill twice a day.

Dr Heng commented on his sweet nature being better than some pet cats, as he was calm and very well behaved. Actually, all the caregivers have also been surprised at the way he has taken things in his stride. If they do not know him, and someone told them he is treasured pet cat, it would be bought hook, line and sinker.

In any case, given the situation, a return to his old way of life and his home at the plaza is not possible. Thankfully, Carol is willing to continue to foster and care for him. The worry for the caregivers is the vet bills.

He was quite unhappy with all the hustle and bustle of the outing. and to be crammed in the carrier, which is rather too small for him.

The added embarrassment of having to wear a collar seemed to prove too much for him - so he tried, and managed to turn away from the camera.

In Carol's home, the old boy showed how much of a sweetheart he was...

Waiting patiently on the table, for Carol to administer the eye drops.

Obediently licking the meds

Getting some food for comfort, and incidentally, his half-pill for the day.

He did not like the ridiculous collar, but he was stoic in the face of the inevitable, quietly enduring the caregivers' attention in getting making him a walking lampshade

Pierre needs a second opinion

Pierre's eye seem to be getting worse, and has grown a whitish covering over the lens.

Doris called Dr Chan for advice. She recommended that Pierre be sent to an eye specialist for consultation and suggested Dr Heng at Mount pleasant Sunset Way.

Pierre will be seeing Dr Heng tomorrow.

Pierre sent to Carol's home again

Pierre has not been doing well since his release at the plaza.

His appetite is poor, and he is in hiding. His right eye seemed to have gotten worse too. It probably does not help that the plaza seemed to scheduled for a major overhaul. The hoardings are almost complete and will cover the whole plaza, including the bushes so vital for Pierre's safety.

After discussing among themselves, the caregivers have decided to return Pierre to Carol's home for the time being. So there he is now.

Pierre released back to his home

Pierre has recovered from his injuries and has been released back to the plaza. Amy will be checking on him and feeding him everyday.

He appeared uneasy, probably due to the heightened human activity. Hoardings were being erected around the plaza perimeter. Looked like some sort of construction or renovation might be done to the plaza.

Vet bill for his visit

The receipt attached for reference.

Pierre is back from the vet

Pierre was seen by Dr Chan at Namly earlier today. As arranged with Carol, he is now at her home for recuperation. The good news is his injuries are slight and superficial. He was also given an eye drop for his swollen red eye.

Pierre has been hurt

As usual Amy went out to find Pierre in the morning. She was still not able to find him but spotted a regular at the plaza who is aware of Pierre and with whom she had spoken with before.

She approached him and asked if he had seen Pierre around. He told her Pierre had been hurt in a hit-and-run. Apparently, on the afternoon of 27 Feb, 2 days earlier, he was hit while crossing the road between the plaza and the shopping centre.

Hearing this, Amy combed the bushes surrounding the plaza thoroughly, and found him huddled and scared. His eye was also swollen and red. He came out of hiding when she called but was not interested in food, only drank some water. He was limping and seemed lethargic and scared.

In the evening, Amy called the tipped ear clan minions for advice. They advised her to call V, who does pet transport and cat trapping, for help.
